چکیده

Malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) is a disease causing fatal outcome in cattle and generates economic losses worldwide. This study aims to detect the cause of Balinese showing clinical signs such as high fever, serous ocular mucopurulent nasal discharges, enlargement pre-scapularis pre-femoralis lymphnodes. These were previously housed 50 meters away from flock sheep which brought Sabu Island 3 months earlier. Samples including blood, ocular, nasal, vaginal swabs collected 22 sheep, 30 goats, 33 clinically healthy (22 11 Ongole cattle), infected cattle. processed tested using A nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Results showed t hat 12 out positive MCF, suggesting potential spread No goats that indicate these animals are less susceptible Ovine Herpesvirus-2 (OvHV-2) infection compared The finding 5 samples shows sub-clinical OvHV-2.

Detection of sheep-associated malignant catarrhal fever from clinical cases in Ethiopian cattle.

Mucoid nasal discharge, loss of weight, decreased milk production, diarrhoea, salivation, dyspnoea, fever, lacrimation, bilateral corneal opacity and bloody urine were observed in cattle located in the Arbe Gona district of southern Ethiopia. The disease was associated with a high case fatality rate: diseased cattle died within four to five days after showing clinical signs. The clinical presen...

Malignant catarrhal fever-like disease in sheep after intranasal inoculation with ovine herpesvirus-2.

A malignant catarrhal fever (MCF)-like disease was induced experimentally in 3 sheep after aerosol inoculation with ovine herpesvirus-2 (OvHV-2). Each of 3 OvHV-2-negative sheep was nebulized with 2 ml of nasal secretions containing approximately 3.07 X 10(9) OvHV-2 DNA copies from a sheep experiencing an intensive viral-shedding episode. Ovine herpesvirus-2 DNA became detectable by polymerase ...

Replacement of Glycoprotein B in Alcelaphine Herpesvirus 1 by Its Ovine Herpesvirus 2 Homolog : Implications in Vaccine Development for Sheep-Associated Malignant Catarrhal Fever

Vaccine development is a top priority in malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) research. In the case of sheep-associated MCF (SA-MCF) caused by ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2), progress toward this objective has been hindered by the absence of methods to attenuate or modify the virus, since it cannot be propagated in vitro. As an alternative for vaccine development, in this study, we tested the hypothes...
